N' - ,UEKLMITHNURH ' Fifteen students entered the home contest, winners were selected to represent the Quimby High School in the county and state series of contests. The county contest was held in Quimby. Our speakers scored a total of six points by placing first in Cratorical, second inbramatic and a third in Humorous. Barbara Fassler won the county Oratorical contest for Quimby the third straight year. Teddy Martin having won first in the Oratorical classfor Quimby the two preceding years. Little did our contestants realize as they entered the preliminary state contest that they would travel on and on in the series of contests until finally theywould end up at the State Contest. However, that is just what happened. Virginia Griffin and Joyce Hartliep placed with I ratings in the first round of state competition, then settled down to intensive work, and as each contest came, competition becoming much more intense, these two girls worked harder and we had winners inthe preliminary sub-district, and district contests. Joyce wasourentry in the state contest. Virginia received a two rating in the district contest and the only two ratings given in this contest.
