CHI OMEGA cr Suzann Morton, l'iceAPr.-asirleiztg Kit Lyon, Secretary: Rae Ellen Beebe, Pledge Trainer: Betsy Thomson, Treasurer. Chi Omega returned in the fall. Rush came-we sang our old songs with renewed vitality. and twenty-three top- notch pledges were welcomed by both Chi O's and the annual Charlotte monsoon season. Halloween found us at Carolina as guests of the Chi Phi's-also attending was the Creat Pumpkin. Endless hours were spent in practicing for Sorority Sing, and this year we had an added attraction: Charlotte and her harp. VVe shared Christmas by adopting a local family of ten, completely outfitting each. and providing their Christmas dinner. In February, our foureyears-overdue national visitor came to call. VVith Marion's expert advice, we had the best initiation week weve had for yearsg and to top it off, at the initiation banquet Hope and Ann were selected as the bestest. Parties during the year included our faculty coffee in March, a combo party with the ADPi's, and the party our pledges gave for the freshmen-featuring Bohannon in grass skirt and Nlr. Hadley in gray flannel suit. Craduation, sadness in singing In the Shades of Evening, and frantic packing completed an unforgettable vear. We were glad to welcome back Myra, Martha, and Mary Lee, and were sorry when Martha left again at semester break. Hardee, with her stack of recs and stuffed fish, soon had us rushing in more ways than one! Gene as Katy Drummond welcomed the rushees to the green and white abode on sorority road -and she muSt have im- pressed them, because in October, we welcomed twenty- three new pledges to KD. The pledge banquet at the Steak House was high- lighted by the presence of several 1960 alums and Har- riet's long and inspiring address to the chapter. Marie, who kept the chapter organized, the national officers happy, the kitchen cleaned, and the heat fixed, still managed to be Miss Everything in beauty con- tests. The pledges sold cookies, the actives contributed, and Patsy pinched pennies: finally we stood back and ad- mired our beautiful new stereo-which hasn't been quiet since. Christmas came before we knew it, and Brownie and Agnes did a terrific job planning and making us practice for Sorority Sing. Even though we couldn't afford to bribe the judges, we enjoyed singing and will long re- member the Hpuppa-prumsu and Hpuddley-pums we sang in the Little Drummer Boy. Shortly after Sing, we had our Christmas alum feed and our banquet at the house given by the pledges. Scotty starred in the production of the Littlest Angel, and David was crowned Dream Man for the second year.
