COPYRIGHT mi Isa Lind Hockaday Editor-in-Chief Margaret Blanton Business Mgr. rc IN this the twenty-fourth volume of the Edelweiss we have en- deavored to present and commem- orate the history of Queens College during its seventy-three years of ex- istence and that of Chicora College during its twenty-five years of ex- istence, and likewise to forward the perpetration of the merger of these two institutions into Queens-Chicora College. These two colleges have passed through many dear and interesting years of transition before joining hands to become one. About the year 1766 there was an Academy named Queens Museum or College. In 1857 there was a college called Charlotte Female Institute. In 1901 the college ' s name changed to Pres- byterian College for Women. In 1912 the institution moved from College Street to Myers Park and again re- sumed its original name of Queens College. SDIC ATIOfN This Volume is Dedicated, with a sense of appreciation, with abiding hope and aspirations, and with love to our Alma Mater, whose resourcefulness has tenderly filled our empty hands and patiently guided our quest for knowl- edge; who in the future will continue to inspire in our sisterhood faith in God and man; whose treasured memory will live in the dear affections of its students. Forty-four 1 pernor Qlass Voem SUCCESS Four years we have searched for knowledge ; For the key to our future success. Four years we have spent in college Seeking the truth for us to possess. College years have fled away. Though from our Alma Mater we shall stray, Our minds to her for e ' er shall trend As o ' er diverging paths xve wend. Memory will to mind recall The friends whom here we ' ve happily found, When future days will bring to all The friends, by then, become renowned. But nozv we stand awaiting Time Which proves our worth — both yours and mine. Success for us shall be most royal, If to Alma Mater and God we ' re loyal. by Lucy M. Woodworth.
