RETRE Retreatants Barbara Mozian and Sue Budelmann qstandingy and Peggy XY'isel4al enjoy the reading of Catholic pamphlets. . -W i Our Lady of Prouille Retreat House l ik 5 wtf i ,mf ff! 26 CIRUSADING VOR CHRIST Our annual retreats are an essential part of the educational program of Queen of the Rosary Acitdemy. During the De- cember 6-8 weekend our Seniors made a closed retreat at Our Lady of Prouille Retreat House in Amityville under the direction of Reverend john Alexander. S. This closed retreat is a characteristic segment of senior life at R. A. The student body participated in the pre-Easter retreat on April 1-3 given by Reverend Hugh Munro, a De Montfort Father. Attendance at daily Mass, recep- tion of the Sacraments, spiritual reading, recitation of the Rosary and inspiring conferences constituted a helpful and memorable retreat.

Kathleen Corcoran tests Helen Vickers' tat boardj knowledge of the Papal Encyclical. One of the essential factors fostering Catholic leader- ship is the training our minds and wills to the definite purpose and reason for our very existence on earth. Our freshmen are involved with the study of the early Church and its successes. The sophomores delve into the study of the Mass and its significance in their lives. The Old and New Testament and the events characteristic of that time are the phases studied in the Junior Religion classes. As Seniors, we are trained in the History of the Church and a thorough understanding of the married state and the Church's views on this subject given to us in an en- cyclical by Pope Pius XI. Thus, these four years of study of Catholicism have trained us for Christian leadership in today's turbulent world. ? Ann Devine explains a poster on Christianity to Sister Mary joseph and her Church History class
