The Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace and its sur- roundings, is, as it were, a song in stone and color, in glass and design. William Halliwell, Ph.D. All Americans, East, West, North and South, share with North Arlington, New Jersey, a great joy and dream fulfillment. On February 12th, 1954, the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace was consecrated there by His Excellency, Archbishop Boland. Our Lady, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, was designated the Patroness of the United States in 1846. It is most fitting and happy that this dream and aspi- ration of the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter B. O'Connor, a Shrine, dedicated to Our Lady Queen of Peace, and to commemorate the historic contributions of Catholics to the spiritual and material and physical growth and glory and honor of America, was com- pleted and consecrated and opened for all the world for prayer and love, in this year officially dedicated to and marking the 100th anniversary of the promulgation of the Do,ctrine of The Immaculate Concep- tion. 60
