The annual Retreat opening the 1953-54 school year began on September 16, and was conducted by Father Robert F. Grady of the Church of the Epiphany, Cliffside, New Jersey. In his sermons, Father included such topics as the peace which the world now seeks . . . a peace found only in union with Godg the reward of a good lifeg devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament of His Loveg devotion to Our Blessed Lady, and finally the necessity of praying often to determine one's vocation. The student body assisted each morning at the Holy Sacrifice' of the Massg at the closing Mass, the students received Holy Communion. Students on the way to the opening of Retreat. Eager Freshmen await their coveted medals I I 011 Friday, September 30th, Mon- signor Peter B. 0,Connor oilieiated at the reception of one hundred forty students into the Blessed Mother's Sodality. The group was comprised of one hundred twenty-five freshmen and fifteen students from among the upper classes. Among those received were Sen- iors: John DeFillippo and Leo Ma- loneg Juniors: William Scott, John McMarrow, David Newton, and Boh- ert Plattg Sophomores: Kathleen Wa- rok, James Norton, Richard Maddern, Louis Acocella, George Manning, Jo- seph McMahon, Harold Masciatellc, John Krok, and Carol McGowan. Monsignor congratulated the new members and told them of the many advantages as well as the great honor of being received into the Sodality of Our Blessed Lady. The ceremony closed with solemn Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. New members recite their pledge TY
