PANTHERS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP Our CHS Panthers, for the first time inCHS history, wonthe State Class C Basketball Championship. Under the excellent coaching of Mr. Feist the squad attained the privilege to re- present the county in the District 4 Playoffs at Chestertown. ln the semifinals they defeated Rock Hall and came back to defeat Federals- burg in the district finals. For the second straight year the team re- presented District 4 in the State ChampionshipatCollege Park. Last year at College Park they were edged out in the semifinals by 2 points. But this year it was a different story. ln the semifinals the Panthers met and defeated last year's defending champion, Lackey. The game went into two overtimes with CHS coming out on top by a score of 53-51. The following night our Panthers met Crisfield for the State Championship. After four very hard-fought quarters the game was tied at 48-48. For the second straight night our fighting Panthers were in overtime. After a three minute overtime we came out on top by a score of 53-48 and for the first time in CHS history were crowned Class C State Champions.
