L U T H E R r i ll C ONE OF THE pleasant experiences of the war is to meet the many service men that come back to visit The Old School during their brief furloughs. A few of these men will never be the same, but most of them are bronzed by the rigors of military training and combat, trim, erect figures looking fine and fit for any emergency. Could you read the thought in their minds as they return to the old school you would find it in complete agreement with this unusual book of pictures as it undertakes to mirror the joyousness of school daysegolden student days for them gone by. From another group of service men we receive many letters. These men are trying through the Armed Institute to make up courses they need to graduate. In some instances, it is no fault of their own that they did not graduate, but plenty of the letters stress the fact that school was an opportunity they did not make too much of. But now they know what it is all about. The letters of these men do not deny the joyousness of halcyon high school days, but they also stress there is a job to be done. Sincerely, O, L. LUTHER.

M R F A R M E R V i c e IT HAS BEEN SAID that no privilege exists that is not inseparably bound to a duty. What are the duties tied to the privilege of high school attendance? The very instance of your high school membership increases your neighbor's expectance of a finer Wa of life from ou. You cannot esca e the additional duties to ourself and to enerations Y Y P Y S past and present who have sacrificed to make the American high school what it is. Ultimately you will join Queen Anne graduates who have blazed an unusually fine trail of achieve- ment and leadership. Their records suggest the prediction that the large majority of you will not be found Wanting in repaying the unequalled opportunities of free American public education. Sincerely, GEORGE S, FARMER.
