Only when years are sped do we realize how carefree and quickly spent are high school days. Already, these pages remind us with a pang of many who have gone to face the duties and risks of war-some not to return. Only when years are sped do we realize the full comforts of faith, and deeds, and memories. GEORGE S. FARMER, Vice-Principal. l13l

12 The Annual Staff has Iittingly dedicated this book to our Gold Star Boys. This is good as far as it goes, but it can go much farther if each student dedicates himself. Could these Gold Star Boys speak to us again, how much they could tell us! Perhaps they would urge you to carry on, to seek and keep robust health and stamina. With these you can fight your way thru this war and the days of uncertainty to follow. They would have you make the most of your school oppor- tunity. This war ofmechanized move- ment is a smart man's war, and the world beyond the war will be a smart man's world. Physical stamina and intelligence will count. These boys, too, would be human enough to want you to have the joyousness that belongs to youth, as much of it as war permits. No later restitution can compensate youth denied this joyousness. And so with vigor, trained minds, and joy in our American way of life they would urge you to carry on and serveefneyes, even unto death if need be. O. L. LUTHER, Principal.
