COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERS DAN TORRANCE, ELEANOR BECK, VERNICE MONSEY, DOUGLAS PAUL SENIOR CLASS HISTORY - Continued right there in the front lines with Vernice Monsey, Frances Prater, Bill and Jack Corcoran giving splendid performances, while Dorothy Short awed all the passengers with her voice. At last our big day arrived, we started out on the last leg of our four- year cruise. One of the biggest events was when we won the undisputed basketball championship. Jim Kaldal continued as captain with four able assistants: Tom Gove, Jerry Schillreff, Bill Corcoran, and Bud Collins. Our Halloween P.-T. A. dance was a huge success and we all frolicked at the Kuay Karnival. Our senior year seemed to be full of successes. The senior play, Kapers and operetta all hit a new high in entertainment aboard ship. As our caps and gowns were ordered we again saw glimpses of Com- mencement Bay. Then we elected Jim Kaldal, Ben Matsumoto, Bill Corcoran, Eleanor Beck, and Don Rogers to guide us safely through the dangerous waters of Fletchers Bay, Credit Reef, and the Hurricane of Final Exams to Diploma Head and Commencement Bay. Our Senior Prom in the ship's ballroom, our final dance, climaxing our four years of mixers, hilarious games, meeting deadlines, notes in study hall, worried faces during exams, and many shipwrecks in Report Card reefs, added together the best four years of our lives, never to be forgotten. Even after this night many of us will still come back to see how our friends are faring in their voyage, to smile with amusement sometimes at their small squalls, often wishing we were back again, sea-sickness and all. -EILEEN CLYDE DAN TORRANCE DOUGLAS PAUL Valedictorian Senior Choice ZQ IQ
