Manual Arts ECESSARY in the construction and maintenance of our ship on this voyage is the Manual Arts de- partment. ln our jour- ney through the turbu- lent sea of life, some of us must be the builders and maintainers of the practical things. David Burrell, recently ap- pointed to the com- mand of this division, took over after the re- signation of Charles McNabney who served his ship at this post for thirty years. This group of officers aboard our ship have done their job nobly and deserve credit for turning out a fine lot of apprentice craftsmen. Pfzyszkal fducaffbn INCE Queen Anne is no ordinary ship, we were not confined to shuffleboard and ping- pong for recreation, but through the Physical Education department, each passenger was al- lowed to participate in a sport of his own choos- ing. Whether he wanted to tumble or wrestle, play badminton or hockey, no voyager was left without some ath- letic activity to keep him amused through- out the duration of the trip. 3

Maori: Arthur L- Sfwllvh 5ClfNCf HE MEMBERS ot the department at science have contributed an essential part to our voyage. Without their patience and willingness to help us understand the laws and torces that govern this globe, we could not hope to navigate our course successfully, They have taught us the power of nature and have shown us the good that may be derived from the resources of the earth. Lite is basically a science and may be put to good use or may be a men- ace to the lives ot others. Without knowledge of science we have no knowl- edge ot lite. ln order to keep abreast ot the tast-moving world, we must know the basic tacts that govern it. When we feel the torcetul wave of lite as it really is, we shall realize the value ot knowing how to meet the wave with a mind equipped to tight it and the power to overcome its destructive effects. We owe, therefore, to this group ot otticers on our mythical ship an unrepayable and unestimable debt.
