Basstord. Not only do these hard workers instruct us concerning the past events of our country and the worlcl, but they have taught us how better to cope with such current problems as big business, labor and unemployment. They have given us valuable information concerning present day prob- lemsg they have helped us to figure out these problemsg and they have helped us to know our government and other governments and to compare them critically. Added to the crew were Miss Marsden Cole and Miss Julia Hilzinger, who have done exceedingly well and are now seasoned shipmates. Two new classes have also been added to the English curriculum, the Contemporary Literature class taught and promoted by Mr, Cass, and the Personal Achievement class conducted by Miss Nada Overland, The first was planned to promote appreciation and understanding ot modern literature and the latter is for the purpose ot helping the superior student to make the most of his time. Both classes have proved to be ot considerable interest and success and will probably be carried on as a part of the regular curriculum. W2

This year, the a capella choir and senior glee clubs won new fame for themselves by singing in concerts and over the radio. A boys' quartet and a girls' triple nonette were formed by members of the choir and have since gained the recognition and appreciation of the whole school. The department also re- ceived new laurels with its presentation of the operetta, Naughty Marietta, this spring, I2 Maffzemafics O help us become skilled work- men so that our ships will move swiftly and smoothly through life, the Mathematics department has performed an important duty. Under the expert guidance of Charles Parke this department has proved its efficiency and capability for instruction.
