CLASS Hl TORY As graduation time draws near, we the class of l952 look back upon the past sixyears with a feeling of having accomplished our high school education successfully. In the autumn of i946 our long iourney began. Our first two years were very uneventful as we were lower classmen and were left to our- selves. In the eighth grade Mr. Biskup became our adviserand remained with us throughout our high school years. We had shindigs of our own and as we graduated to freshmenwe began to take part in the activities of the high school. Under the leadership of Bill Hull, as class pres- ident, we sponsored the spring dance and decorated the Post Theatre for the commencement exercises. At the end of this year we lost Jim Lane, Clark Mclllwain, Bill Hull, Alice Lloyd, Mary Jo Leake, Tom Swartzel, Mary Jane Snapp, and Bill Roberts. The Christmas Dance atthe Staff Noncommissioned Officers Club was the highlightof our sophomore year. Class prexy was Kathy Watson, and we started a candy concession during lunch hour with all proceeds going to our class banquet at the Staff Club. As June came around again we saw Dot, Kathy, and Betty Lou going to Massanetta Springs on a music scholarship. As the year drew to a close we lost Peggy Boyd, Ginny Thomas, Conard Bryant, Kattina Baty, Jack Bowman, Dot Smith, Ray Wigglesworth, Jack Humphrey, and George Brower. During the summer months tragedy struck our class when Kathy was stricken with polio. ln an iron lung for over two months she stayed in hospitals for the next year and successfully won a hard fight. In our iunior yearwe gained two new students, Bob Calland Carolyn Shoup, with Carolyn and Nancy Vogt later going to the senior class. Murray was co-president of the Hut and Betty Lou was serving as class president. We sold red hats and what a iob that wasl At Christmas time we had our usual party and after a fine meal we went to the Anderson 10
