Q I ,L W1 , - pf ' V up .M nl A L 1, 4, Q . , . 1 by Senior 65155 ffzstary By Lavada Watson and Janne Gray In the fall of 1954 the l958 Senior Class boarded a space ship ready to start on our four year Iourney to the moon We were excited and nervous because we all knew that to reach our destination we would need plenty of determina tion and courage We knew we would need a good pilot to keep our ship on course during the first year of our lourney so we chose Jerry Jones as our pilot and Jerry Don Gibson as our co pilot Marie Malone was elected to keep our records up to date and Martha Wills was responsible for sending our reports back to the earth people Mrs Morgon Mrs Hook and Mr Bobo were our flight instructors on the first year of our lourney On the second year of our lourney we elected Marion Hook to pilot our ship and for her reliable assistant Johnny Dunlap Our records of advancement were kept by Sharon Anderson To help us along on our lourney we had three very capable people Mrs Bursey Mrs Newton and Mr Smith By staying on the right course these first two years we found it easier to start on our third leap into space As we cruised along in space we came upon several comets the Sadie Hawkins Assembly the Teachers Take Off and the biggest of all the Junior Senior Banquet Under the good leadership of our officers John Hamilton John Marshall Ann Tabor Barbara Dennis and Martha our sponsors Mrs Hook Mrs Casselberry and Mass Marshall told us that we would need some identification before we could enter into the fourth year of our lourney We were very proud when we got that identification Our Senior Rings We had then completed with success three years of flight In space As we entered the fourth year we elected Neal Turner and Billy Ennis as our cadets to pilot our ship to safe landmg on the moon Martha Wills and John Marshall were very busy keeping our records and sending reports back to earth Our money was safeguarded by Barbara Dennis With the help of our sponsors Miss Radford Mrs Newton and Mr Casselberry we found that selling football programs pillows and rummage working at basketball concession stands and presenting the Negro Minstrel and Senior Play were easier to do in order to make money for our Senior Trip Now here we are ready to step out of our space ship and receive that little roll of white paper called a diploma Even though we have run into several storms of math science and history during these four years we have engoyed every minute of it and if you are ever in your first second or third plunge into space dont give up the ship - - I - , , . . , . , . 1 . , . , . l .
