The Defense Attorney, C, E. Casselberry, and the Prosecuting Attorney, Frances Marie Owens, call the Senior wit- nesses to the stand. On the basis of proof presented as to the achieve- ments of the class of '54, Judge Dickenson pronounces them graduates. Class Histor y SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Wanda Howard Back in the fall of 48 as I remember a whole class of little hoodlums left Travis and announced their presence at Quanah High We really ran the school that year or to say the least we ran in it Traffic laws were enforced so that there would be no more casualties between classes To keep us from getting into too much trouble that year our leaders Mary Smith John Hanna and Mary Brinkerhoff put us to work for our Valentine candidate Sharon Eaton We worked so hard she came in second really giving the Seniors a scare The super vrsors that year Mr P P Lewis Mrs Mabel Stevenson and Mrs Velma Wells left us gladly in the hands of Miss Rita Burleson Mrs Marie Swindell and Mrs Letha Morris for our eighth grade year The year progressed uneventfully on the whole due to the close watch of the teachers Like all happy school days our days were packed with paper and fights passing notes and chewing bubble gum Without our leaders John Hanna Patsy Stokes and Lola Klepper we would probably still be at the paper wad stage but they wisely suggested water pistols and yo yos The short parole between terms was over and again we boarded the bumping school buses and returned for that memorable Freshman year The ring leaders that year were Jack McGuire Jimmy Jones and Judy Burke Within a short time we had become well acquainted with high school customs and spent more than half our time in either the office or detention hall To keep us in line that year the faculty strong men L, E Gray Don Robbins and Foster Watkins were chosen In 51 Robert Ellis Robert Houk and Yvonne Issacks studied the layout and with well laid plans led the dehnquents in their invasion of Q H, S, Mrs Alma Ruth Holcomb Mrs Marie Bailey and L, E Gray did their best and the term was finally brought to a peaceful close sembly Long will the students remember and Iknow the teachers will never forget the clever impersonations of the Teacher s Take Off American History Notebooks were graded by the pound several of the ounces coming from Geometry notebooks Finally came the Last Round Up the Junior Semor Banquet which we a financed by the sale of magazine subscriptions In the midst of the work all year were John Hanna Don Edmonds Mary Smith and Carroll Howard the sponsors were Mrs Monette Cole Miss Gwen Tittle and Mr Howard W Martin. Well now rf my memory is right in September of 53 it was this very same gang .that occupied the front seats in assemblies and stumbled through crvrcs and CSEP Their leaders then were R, L, Edmondson, John Gilliland Mary Brinkerhoff Judy Burke and Avalee Young The whole class played hard on their work or worked hard on their play The House of Strangeness The Junior Senior Boxing Matches really went over with a bang We really worked hard on all our progects the Senior Carnival proving to be no exception You can imagine the surprise of the whole school when on Drgrufied Senior Day they saw us as ladies and gentlemen With Miss Ellabelle Radford Miss Marie Owens and C E, Casselberry overnight we had changed from barefooted hoodlums to dignified Seniors Among the classes most cherished memories will always be the Baccalaureate Service the Senior Trip to Galveston the Junior Senior Banquet and the many tears shed on Senior Day and Graduation Now the class of 54 rs opening the door to a new life and soon we ll all be going our separate ways but we will always remember the happy high school days at Quanah High n .7 V f , by In '52 we began our Junior year.
