We mode our first landing for the Freshmen Get Acauainted Party, which the sophomore class held for us, Our next stopover was the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, where we visited Fels Planetarium and heard an informative lecture and a demonstration on nuclear fission. On Memorial Day Betty Trautman and James Myers received the American Legion Award for their lead- ership, character, and outstanding scholastic abilities. ln June our stratocruiser landed for refueling and repairing of parts. Even before we boarded the ship for our second trip, some of the fellows in the class were conditioning themselves at football camp. This preliminary train- ing program was initiated by the Booster Club. With our stratocruiser in Afl condition, we took off for the annual Freshmen-Sophomore Get Acauainted Party. News aptly describes the activi- ties of all high school organizations. Since it is published in the town newspaper, re- porters must conform to strict deadlines, and woe betide any newshawk who fails to get an article in on time. The editor-in-chief's desk, situated in Room 26, is a busy place for here assignments are made, finished copy is handed in, delinquent reporters and missing articles are located, and the thesaurus gets its hardest use. After the final copy has been placed on the printer's desk, the staff members put away their pens, take off their thinking caps, and sit back to take a well-earned rest- until the next edition of the news must be prepared. Practice began two weeks before school started in September and continued until the last game on November 9. Keeping up the spirit and arranging for pep meetings before every game, Miss Pengelski, a new coach, helped us win the Bux-Mont Championship. The seniors who played their last hockey for the Blue and White were: Captain Lorraine l-oughridge, Betty Trautman, Wilma Hartmann, Constance Jett, Barbara Bergman, and Lillian Rhoades, Also graduating will be the efficient manager, Katherine White, f-fr? f e y.f,, A ef-g, - ' fir- tv. c ' li Q QHS mr.:.t.... 3 crumnons ll HOCKEY SQUHD Left to Right, fFirst Rowhz L l'.:r'.2:e W Pfcrtriznn E fr'1.'ri':r.
