H. 5. tall 1.30 of usl as freshmen, we were thrilled with the thought ol' eonting to high sehool. Soon, however. the thrill wore ot'l' and we were all down to work, dodging tests and waiting for our report eards. The activities ot' the first few months ot' our fresh- man yeai' eonsisted mainly ot' getting aequaiuted with our Classmates and the many laeilities ot' the sehool that were nlaeed there t'or our eonvenienee. I'n our first year we were unahle to win any sport eainpaigns, even though we were just uosed out in the hasehall eamnaign. However, this didn't eause us to lose our freshman spirit, and we kept on trying during' the remainder of the eanipaigns. This first year at high sehool was mixed with many humorous experienees and none of' us will ever forget our days in seienee elass with Miss Wein- berger. Her many helpful sayings will he remem- bered long after we leave Q. H. S. Our sophomore year at Q. H. S. was quite dilterent t'rom the first one, and we felt a little more at home when we eame to sehool again in Senteinher. Most ol' us were sorry that our vaeation was over, hut we soon got into the swing of things again and quite a few of the sophomores were seen earrying biology and American history hooks so that they eould show up bright and early t'or Mr. Strayer and Miss Neamand the next morning, It might also he good to note that during our sophomore year, more fellows than girls fainted in hiology elass when Mr. Strayer and his squad ol' hntehers hegan dissecting frogs and other weird ereatures of' the lower forms of life. The elass got their first real treat when they hoarded the Levy l'Ixpress one hright Saturday morning and headed forthe historieal eity of' Phil' adelphia, to visit the Franklin Institute. We visited the various points of' interest sueh as the l'laue- tarium and the Museum of Natural llistory where some of the fellows thought they reeognized some of' their long lost relatives. However, t'rom the re- ports that were eireulated around sehool the next week. it would he easy to helieve that a more en' joyahle lime was had on the huses than at the Institute. lt was during our sophomore year that the Mo inorial of Light idea was originated, and oui' elass donated to the eause from its treasury the sunt ot' one hundred dollars whieh was used to help ereet the light towers on the Alumni Field, It wa.: this year also that we won our lirst eampaign when we eame out victorious in the hasehall eampaign. The annual llux-Mont traek meet was held at Quakertown this year, with schools t'rom the two eounties eompeting in hoth traek and field events. Some of the eleetions that took plat-e during the sophomore year were the eleeting ot' the 1-lass oflieers and the ehoosing' ot' a elass adviser. Mr. Klingaman, one ot' the newer memhers ot' the fae- ulty, was a unanimous elloiee t'or adviser heeanse he had already done so mueh t'or our 1-lass, ,Xt the elose ot' our seeond year we ordered our elass rings and, at the same time, the girls hegan to line up the fellows whose elass rings they would like to he owning come next June. Glas: lh3to'zy Septeniher again! We hegan sehool for the eleventh tinie. Uur junior year was quite a nieniorahle one. We reeeived oui' rings and also ordered oui' pen- nants and eaps t'or our tinal year. We also chose a elass motto, eolor, and tlower. Septeniluer whisked hy, and witehes and the sniell ol' pnnipltins were in the air. The elass decided to hold a llaIlowe'en party, whieh seenied very suit- ahle to everyone involved, We niight add that the juniors got in very early the next inorning. As juniors we won our second eanipaign when we emerged triuinphant in the hattle ot' the hasliethall eanipaign. Next on the prograni was the Junior Play. The play reading' eoniniittee spent nineh tinie in reading' plays until tinally they decided on one ealled Spring Green. No t'nrther events ot' interest took plaee until the tinte for the l'roni had eonie, when the fellows hegan to dress inore neatly and went out ot' their way to he niee to the fairer sex. The l'l'0lll, with Ralph lNloyer's orehestra, was a sueeess and everyone had an en' joyahle tinie. That dreaded day, the opening ot' sehool eanie again, hilt Cllllllllpl haeli to sehool this year wasn't unite so ditlieult as it had heen in the past, for all ot' us knew that this would he the last and surely the niost eventful year ot' our sehool life, The tirst thing we did was to re-eleet elass otfieers, with two ot' the otlleersi the president. llohert Iledriek, and treasurer, Gloria Sniith, staying on the exerutive stall' t'or the sem-ond year. Sports hegan to take the spotlight at Q. ll. S. and the football squad was now working well after spending two weeks at training' eanip, The teani eonipleted the season with a record of six wins and three losses, a reeord good enough to land it in third plaee in the tinal standings. l'onenrrent with a sueeessful foothall season, the Quaker Lassies eanie through the season with only one defeat to heeonie lloeliey l'hanips ot' 1947, the tirst tinie this honor had eonie to the sehool sinee lit-ll.
