The Key Club, an all boys Kiwanis-related organization, whose motto is We Build, was one of the most active clubs in the school. After a busy summer working with the Kiwanis at the annual Harvest Festival, the boys returned ready to participate in many school activities. During football season, they sold spirit ribbons helping to promote much of the school spirit. Other activities in which the Key Club participated were collecting tickets and printing line-ups for the basketball games, holding a successful work day, and aiding the Kiwanis on pancake day. A delegation from Quaker Valley attended the annual Pennsylvania State Key Club Convention at the Mt. Airey Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. Much of the success of this year's Key Club can be attributed to the sponsor, Mr. Schroth, and the club's president, John Mitsak. Hoping to add to their wardrobes by creating sweaters, scarfs, socks, mittens, and slippers the knitting club, with the help of Mrs. Koehler and Miss Sebolt, deciphered the complicated instructions accom- panying knitting patterns. In addition to gaining knitting skill, the members became adept at needle- point and crocheting. Debate C.lub's primary activity this year included debating other school's forensic groups on the topic of Compulsory Service By All Citizens. The Quaker Valley team fought on the negative and affirmative side with great success. Members of the club who achieved enough points gained membership in the National Forensic League. Mr. Peliaia, club sponsor, looks forward to having the club become part of the Western Pennsylvania Debate circuit. nitting Club-Debate Club

The Spanish Club, which meets under the direction of Mrs. Sweesy, purchased two flags, representing the countries of Switzerland and Portugal, to add to the Quaker Valley collection. This year the club President is Jim Roolf. Other selected Senior officers are Dave Bell- Vice-President, and Kathy Hunter-Secretary-Treasurer. A wide variety of activities is of- fered, including games played in Spanish and Spanish movies and slides. The Spanish Club also has done something unique in this year's elections. Underclass officers were elected for each position, so that they could become familiar with the organization. l Le Cercle Fraincaisj' under the sponsorship of Miss Kappas, met this year with the aim of increasing interest in the French people, country, and language. This year most of the meetings were conducted in French, which provided a challenge for the members. Each week, volunteers presented programs including games, records, and films. All French students were eligible for membership. Cindy Fowler was elected President, Joe Stunja- Vice President, and Tom Melonic-Secretary-Treasurer. panish Club-French Club
