The Floraculture Club, a new activity this past year, devoted its time in learning the techniques of flower arranging. Mr. Schroth, a flower arranger himself, sponsored the club. The purpose of the Floraculture Club is to practice different methods of Hower displays by arranging. The club started out by mastering arrangements made with artificial flowers and then advanced to real flower arrange- ments and the making of corsages. The club also donated vases of flowers and plants to various rooms in the school building. F.T.A. was again affiliated with the state convention. The club oflicers, Patty Gurgovitz-Presidentg Margie Molitor-Vice-Presidentg and Mary Stinson-Secretary-Treasurerg led the club in discussions on various topics. The club invited Quaker Valley's student teachers to relate their college and student teaching experiences. They planned trips, class room observations, and invited speakers to talk about different phases of teaching. Mr. Lanza sponsored the club. Floraculture Club-F.T. .

Successfully fulfilling its purpose of promoting a better understanding of the peoples of the world and their problems, the World Affairs Club has had an interesting and prosperous year, under the direction of Mr. Simpson. Early in the fall, the club organized a presidential mock election. By setting up headquarters and rallies for the major candidates, the club strove to acquaint students with the policies of the candidates, helping them to decide in their choice. The more avid members of the club, representing Austria, Niger, Monaco, and the United States, took part in the January and March assemblies in Pittsburgh. The Local United Nation introduced new members of the club and prepared them for S. U. N. The club also aided in American Field Service activities by sponsoring AFS day, inviting foreign exchange students from surrounding schools to spend a day at Quaker Valley and selling tickets for the fund raising AFS show.
