The Distributive Education Club of America, D.E.C.A., was newly formed last year as an extracurricular activity for the students of the new distributive education department. The club is under the super- vision of Mr. Peluso. The goal of the club members was to develop their own skills which would enable them to become the future leaders in marketing and distribu- tion. Q The Book Club, sponsored by Mr. Walker, challenged the wits of its members with thought provoking and controversial books. It was the aim of the students to choose literature which would broaden their outlook on a variety of topics. The students DECAg Book Club did the actual reading in their free time and devoted activity period to intriguing discussions led by the members. From time to time the club was honored with outside speakers who gave dramatic readings and oifered interesting interpretations.

A large and enthusiastic Chess Club, under the leadership of President Beall and Vice-President Joyce Lilly, met every Wednesday in the cafeteria. Sponsored by CJ fix N Miss Stevens, the club became better ac- quainted with the fundamentals of the game and had a chance to sharpen skills through tournament play. i1!'fL,nwr'71Q12-fl mm, QQ mtvL,efQ,fJfx -eww, tm JaXoaWz-i?ODW'l. This year the F.T.A., in its second suc- cessful year as a club, was sponsored by Mr. Lanza and Mrs. Breslin. The club officers, President Chris Hawes, Vice-Presi- dent Steve Miller, and Secretary-Treasurer Patty Gurgovits, led the club in discussions ,,., on topics ranging from the characteristics of a good teacher to college life or class- room problems. Speakers on the different phases of teaching, a trip to observe the elementary school classes, and state aflili- ation completed the year for F.T.A. Chess Clubg F.T.A

The ultimate goal of the newly-formed Radio Club was to promote interest in the Iields of radio and electricity. Under the sponsorship of Mr. Shulick, the club at- we-12 W' ,iw fm.-CMAQ ,lo dpylxkfqgil tempted to build and repair radios. They also tried to reach foreign lands with the equipment they employed. U' This year the Biology Club, sponsored by Mr. Schroth, was divided into two groups, conservation and research. The conserva- tion group, headed by Jerome Molitor, was concerned with clean-up projects, biological displays in the showcase windows, and lec- tures to elementary students on conserva- tion. The research group, headed by Dick Miller, ran experiments on such things as blood types and blood counts. When the two groups met together their officers were: President, Jeff Theysg Vice-President, Jer- ome Molitorg Secretary, Nancy Astorinog and animal superintendent, Phil Bendle.
