W As a result of distributive education being added to the Quaker Valley curriculum this year, the school added a branch of D.E.C.A.-the Distributive Education Clubs of America-to the extracurricular program. Supervised by Mr. Peluso, the club declared it major goal to be the development of future leaders in marketing and distribution. , 7 2 'X The cafeteria was kept alive on Wednesdays this year by a large and enthusiastic chess club. Led by Miss Stevens, new members became acquainted with the fundamentals of the game of kings, while the old pros had a chance to sharpen their skills through tourna- ment play. Under the guidance of Mr. Schroth, the Biology Club had another successful year. Mem- bers were involved in making bird feeders, placing pamphlets in local businesses, making study skins, and planting flowers in the cafeteria patio area. They also benefited from lec- tures by noted area scientists, including Doctors Sunder, Miller, and Ray. Membership in Science Club is open to all students with an interest in some field of science. Under the helpful direction of Messrs. Bolin and Niesslein, this year's group benefited in discussions and experiments from the small size of the club. Biology Clubg Science Club

Sponsored by Mr. Lanza, F.T.A.-Future Teachers of America-became yet another new activity this year. As its name suggests, the club discussed teaching as a career, held panel dis- cussions on education, and enjoyed guest speakers. One of our school's most practical activities, Girls, Shop, originally organized to give girls a background in home mechanics, strove this year to promote a better understanding of common tools.
