T VM ' -V ’ A 1776 1976 it ' s about stonewalls, covered bridges and town halls. it ' s in the creak an old bam makes in October when wind threatens the arthritic beam with another winter. in the silence of an ancient, deserted graveyard: in the morning freedom of a river: in finding some antique tools in the foundation of a once upon homestead: in the purple lilac evening scent of spring, it ' s about looking backwards for a minute as far down the road as you can see, noticing the tracks that got you where you are and turning, ready to meet tomorrow ' s sun. We here in America hold in our hands the hope of the world, the fate of the coming years; and shame and disgrace will be ours if in om eyes the light of high resolve is dimmed, if we trail in the dust the golden hopes of man.
