t i; ' As yoimg children we took our growth for granted; it was an inevitable process which required little effort or personal involvement. During our advancement through grammar school, junior high, and finally through high school we have gradually become more and more aware of our growth as individuals and the influences on our growth. The atmosphere, curriculum and people which have constituted our formal education have strongly influ- enced our growth up to this time. During our high school careers we nave been confronted wth many new ideas, people and problems and we have learned to deal with them. Our education has guided our growth and prepared us to guide om own futures. As the time for our graduation draws near we must make decisions which will influence the patterns of our continuing growth. Growing is a lifelong process and it is a challenge we accept as we step out into the world. During our senior high years, Quabbin has taken tremendous strides in its growing process. This advancement has largely been due to the leadership of Mr. Bruce Crowder. His energy and dedication have brought about at Quabbin a learning environment in which we can grow and thrive. He has personally initiated many new programs and privileges for our benefit. Mr. Crowder, we want to say thank you--for your intellectual leadership, for your enthus- iasm, for your straightforwardness, for your time in working with us, for your influence on our lives. With love and gratitude, the Class of 1975 dedicates this yearbook to you. Class Advisor The class of 1975 would like to thank Ms. Maureen Mar- shall for being oitr advisor for the past four years. She has devoted hours of her valuable time to our class and we are grateful for all she has done for us. We especially appreciate her honesty and her sense of humor. She al- ways helped us to laugh at ourselves, especially when we were wrong. We, the class of 1975, would like to thank Ms. Cathleen Scanlan for her hard work and dedication in helping with our yearbook. Her imagination and honest advice has helped us to clearly express the spirit of our class. The time and effort she freely gave has proved invaluable in creating our yearbook, so, to Ms. Scanlan, we express oxu deepest gratitude. 4 Yearbook Advisor President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer 5 f Likes: field hockey, sports, Pal, Last Tango, McDonalds, vampires, hippos, Box , Pitch at 2, orange lights Dislikes: being locked in bathrooms, praying mantis Laurie A. The team finished co-champions of the Wachusett League, completing their season with an 11-13 league record, and a 12-4 mark overall. Their bid to cap- ture the Division III title was destroyed by the reigning champs from South- bridge, The team lost only three seniors, and the future looks optimistic for Coach Marshall and the girls. Varsity Track The Quabbin Track and Field team, under the direction of coach Cilley, had a successful year with ten wins and six losses in league competition. The team was fortunate to have a number of outstanding seniors who helped lead the way to the team ' s success. One of the highlights of the season was the Distance Medley Team ' s second place finish in the State Re- lays. Varsity Baseball For our yovmg team, it seemed that making it to state finals again was a distant dream. When the Wachusett League Championship was won, the dream seemed a pos- sibility. After taking the District III Championship, the team went on to the State finals where the dream came true: Quabbin com- pleted the season as State Champs. 106 Varsity Soccer VARSITY SOCCER- -Row 1: J. All three of the senior captains were honored by being chosen for the Central Mass. All Star Team. Cross-Country The varsity cross-country record was 7 wins and 4 losses and the junior varsity record was 6 wins and 4 losses. The team highlight of the season was Quabbin ' s third place finish in the Wachusett League race at Groton. With Lou Panaccione setting a new course record and Lyman Clark finishing sixth and Mike Stevens ninth, Quabbin was the only team to place three runners in the top ten finishes. TTie individual highlight was the series of course records broken by Lou Panaccione all through the season. Lou broke records at Lit- tleton, Quabbin, Lunenburg, Nashoba, Knights of Columbus, Athol, Lunenburg Invitational, Wachusett Invitational, Wachusett League, Gardner and the District III finals at Gardner. Lou ' s Fifth place finish in the State Finals was the climax to his tremendous performance. Boy’s Basketball The Varsity Basketball team had a disappointing season with a 3-15 record. The team showed a lot of spirit and hustle despite their record, and also lost some very close games. Next year they will have a good team for they are only losing 3 seniors, who are Rich Orszulak, Phil Jolly and Don Zalneraitis. The girls field hockey team had an outstanding record this year. Led by co-captains Maureen Martone and Jody Trask the girls ended up with a 9-2-3 record, the best ever achieved by a Quabbin field hocky team. The girls finished third in the League but lost in the second round of the District III Tournament. Wrestling The 1974-1975 Wrestling team had its most suc- cessful season ever. Seven Quabbin wrestlers placed in section competition, and six in the state tournament, twice as many as had pre- viously qualified. Quabbin has a young team, and the future success of the team looks promising. Girl’s Basketball The Girls ' Varsity Basketball team rose from a 6-9 record in 1973-74 to a 15-1 record in season play in 1974-75 in its second year under the coaching of Miss Pat Torza. Advanced to tournament play, they have com- piled a 17-7 record at this writing. Losing only three seniors, the girls hope to go all the way next year. 122 Winter Carnival Dance Karen Nicoson, queen. One stage in our growth has been concluded, but the rest of our lives are just beginning. We have learned and grown through our ex- periences at Quabbin — thus they have be- come a part of us and will, inevitably, be a part of whatever we become. We graduate from Quabbin perhaps a little sadder- -but, hopefully, much wiser. We will consciously hold on to the memories and friendships that have developed through our high school years. No matter what forms our fu tures take, we will all carry our experiences at Quabbin with us through our lives. BARRE TOWN LIBRARY Borts, SSossdchusetts
