The assortment of classes for tenth graders in- cluded Beginning Debate, Beginning Journalism, or Regular English and Speech. Juniors had a choice of taking one semester of American Literature and an elective or Comprehensive American Literature. Math The Math Department endeavored to help students learn how math is used in the world. Geometry, Ad- vanced Algebra, Trigonometry, and Math Analysis were some of the courses offered. Computer Science was a new course offered this year. It was a semester course designed to help students explore the methods and processes of computer programming using Apple II computer terminals. This department also had the addition of a new staff member. Mrs. Jeanette Dittus, a former PHS student, taught Algebra, Senior Math, and Computer Science. 1. ,- '-i ' Physical Education The Physical Education Department helped stu- dents to learn good sportsmanship while they had fun with other students. Air forces, gymnas- tics, and fleetball were some of the sports done in the required sophomore classes. Juniors and Seniors were not required to take PE but many chose to take it as an elective.
