Music The Music Department gave students with musical talents the chance to learn more about music through class work and perform- ing. Band, Orchestra, and Choir were offered along with special interest courses such as Norselanders, Valkyries, and Stage Band. Mu- sic Theory was also offered for students who wanted to learn more about the history of music. 1. Mr. Pat Havens, Mr. Jim Hunt, and Mr. Robert McNamara prepare for their next concert. 2. rt This department helped students with artistic talents to be able to improve and show off their talents. Calligra- phy was one of the most popular classes in this depart- ment. Many students chose this elective, especially if they had several difficult classes throughout their day. Calligraphy gave them the chance to relax and work at something fun. For those students with more advanced artistic skills, 2-D and 3-D Art Studios were chosen. General and Advanced Photography were also offered for students who were interested in that kind of art. There was something for just about everyone in the Art Department. 1. Mr. Dar: Vesey and Mrs. Nan Holfeld show some of the projects done in their classes this year. 2. Business Many students took courses in the Business Depart- ment. Typing, Accounting, Shorthand, Graphic Arts, and Distributive Education were just a few of the classes offered in the Business Department. Consumer Economics was offered to those students interested in the way our economic system works. Those people planning on a career in a secretarial field could take Secretarial Science and Simulated Office Experience which gave them the chance to find out what it was like to work in an office. Graphic Arts was also offered for those students interested in printing. These students were responsible for printing the Vanguard along with many other programs and pamphlets throughout the year. 1. Mr. Peterson instructs his class on their next assignment. 2. Sitting: Mrs. Diane Benson, Mrs. Joanne Baird. Standing: Mr. Ken Kane, Mrs, Charlotte Hestilow, Mr. Woody Fletcher, Mrs. Nita Green, Mrs. Otha Thompson, Mr. Steve Peterson. 16 Academics
