EINTH GRADE Front M Co an Ms Ha kmson Cad ts I I I a s o o dl so pres1dentsI Ms Sehmell Ms och a CLASS of 1948 ONFUSED by the many halls and rooms m Puyallup H1gh School and rather bewtldered by tts magn1tude the seventh graders entered the portals of Iunlor h1gh as strangers but they soon became accustomed to the new routme of hlgh school and fell 1nto step wlth 1ts Splflt and act1v1t1es Followfng the trad1t1on begun by former classes the seventh graders deslgned attrac t1ve emblems to d1st1ngu1sh the varlous d1v1s1ons Departlng from establlshed custom how ever they made a s1ngle large emblem for each home room us1ng the money thus saved to purchase war savmg stamps Not to be outdone by other classes the seventh grade followed up th1s patr1ot1c gesture wlth generous contrlbutlons to the scrap plle An exc1t1ng race 1n buymg defense stamps was a spec1al feature of the year Mlss McCullochs frfth perlod read1ng class lssued a challenge to all o her seventh grade d1v1 slons and the battle was on Money for the stamps was ralsed by each d1v1s1on through the payment of small fmes for lnfrmgement of 1ts rules of conduct and through volunteer con trlbutlons The1r progress was recorded by red Nhlte blue and gold Vs mdlcatmg the number of stamps sold Each class accepted the challenge w1th great enthustasm but Mtss McCullochs I 4 d1v1s1on won handsomely wtth a total of S147 QU for the ttme allowed Elected at the opemng of school the pres1d1ng ofhcers of the seventh grade d1v1s1ons th1s year were Ted Lamb of I l Davld Da1ley of I 2 Dorothy Mohr of I 3 Norma Snow of I4 and Dlck Grad of I5 Advtsers for the seventh grade were Mr Iame Cowan I l Mr Robert Hall I2 Mtss Dons Sehmel I3 MISS lrma Hawkmson I4 and Mtss Margery McCulloch I 5 26 SEV I . : r. w , 1 s W ' v' ers g Darley, -2g Lamb, -lg Cr b , I-55 M hr, I-35 Sn W, I-45 Q 'vi i n 5 i s , i s McCull ., Mr Hall K dv1sersI.
