The purpose of the student council is to develop attitudes of and practice in good citizenship, to develop student leadership, to help provide orderly direction of school activities, and to pro- vide orderly direction of school activitiesg and to provide a forum for student expression. The council is probably the most active organization of our school and has had a hand in many of its proj- ects. The officers ofthe '66-'67 council were, Bob Novak, president g Dick Fay, vice presidentg and Betty Urnikis, secretary. Some of the many activities of our council were the orientation of new students on the first day of schoolg along with the N.l-I.S. serving as guides for parent open houseg approving and selecting the permanent design of our school ring, selection of the of- ficial school sweaterg selection of the permanent design for the senior announcements errection of the pennants of each of the tri -county schools in the gymg the obtaining of membership of our council in the district, state, and national student council associa- tionsg and election of the new '67-'68 members of the council and the attendance of two of these members at the state convention held at the Sherman House in Chicago. Being the first student cotuicil of Putnam County High School, it has set the ground- work for our future student councils--not only to follow but to build upon. Student Council Bud Donaldson, Larry Steele, Wayne Hundley, Dick Fay, Betty Umikis, Bob Novak, Pam Moews, Marcia Garabrant, Dennis Janusick, Rodney Bazzani, Gary Volker, Kevin Dove. I3
