Volunteer helpers rewarded Varieties of services were performed by Key club, StuCo, and German club extending further student's involvement in outside sources. Jayne Coleman, senior, explains her work in the Domican Republic with Medical Eye chart letters on blocks were used to test eyes of 2eople in the Group Missions of Christian Medical Society. ‘‘My job as a volunteer was Domican Republic. Jayne Coleman gives sunglasses to a native child. a preliminary exam to test visual acquity. People stood in lines outside the gates of the school where we set up our clinic for days and nights without leaving for fear of losing their place in line. ” In a two week period they saw over 7,000 patients, administered over 4,000 pair of glasses and performed near- ly 300 eye surgeries. Delivery of Christmas meals and presents was done by StuCo. StuCo reps received family names and addresses from the Community Action Agency. Steve McLellan elaborates on the success. ‘‘| thought that it was totally ter- rific. | was more than satisfied, | was pleased. Germany trip brochures were scanned by Mrs. Ilona Morris and Brad Hines. A scholarship of $100 was awarded. Earnie the Eagle, donated by Continental Federal Savings and Loan, was distributed by Steve McLellan, StuCo chaplain to Mrs. Sarah Raymond to donate to needy families at Christmas. A= 35 - ee -
