ADMINISTRATION Weight of school system places responsiblities l-eo C. Mayfield Superintendent ASSISTING Mr. Leo Mayfield as one of his right-hand men is Mr, J. Frank Malone working on public relations for the Putnam Schools. Shouldering the responsibilities of a school system en- compassing 47 square miles and including parts of Oklahoma City, Bethany, Warr Acres, and Oklahoma County, are Putnam's superintendents and school board members. Mr. Leo C. Mayfield, Superintendent, is an active par- ticipant in civic activities including YMCA and scout projects. Throughout the year he attends meetings for administrators, includingthe National meeting which was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey this year. Mr. Mayfield has two helpful assistants, Mr. J. Frank Malone, new to the staff this year, who hires teachers, and Mr. Fred Caviness, who hires custodians and handles all student tranfers. ln addition to being Mr. lVlayfield's secretary, Mrs. Lee Mason is Clerk of the Board. President of the Board, Mr. Don Greve, led in the reali- zation of many goals this year. Ten rooms were added to Lake Park Elementary which will accomodate 300 more students. To increase the efficiency of the economic system, a purchasing agent, Mr. Glen Crouch, was added to the staff. Another department originating this year was the Foods and Services, headed by Mrs. Gwen Allred. Tulakes, another elementary school, was added to the system this year. lt opened for school in September and held its formal Open House in January. The new high school, Putnam City West, currently under construction will be ready for students in the fall of 1968. This building will accomodate 900 juniors, sophomores the first year. BUSY with the activities of an assistant superintendent, Mr. Fred Caviness handles the many student transfers and cafeteria maintenance. T4
