Movement is what distinguishes the human or living world from the realm of inanimate objects. People make up a large part of the world which breathes and moves. Modern society is under constant criticism for the pace at which it takes life, but to those who are accustomed to its routine, the absence of speed and hurry in an ordinary day is accutely felt. lust as the adult world of business and home moves on a finely-margined schedule, the high school has a rhythm and ebb of its own. The students on their way to class, the speed of a basketball bame, the typewriter carriages moving back and forth, the cars before school, these are the composite elements of the daily course. Yet it is the people who set the day in motion. The secretaries arrive, closely followed by the teachers and the students. The routine of classes commences and the activi- ties accompanying the regular day are planned. After the final bell has rung, many of the dayis most strenuous industries take up. Football, basketball, wrestling Practice, Play rehearsal, club meetings, Planning sessions with teachers, make-up tests, all fit into the after-hour life of the student. The end of the week brings sporting events, sock hops, Private parties, a reprise from homework or a chance to catch-up on work' for a term theme. The day begins when the doors of the busses clang open and the last echoes seldom die before the custodian begins to lock the building for the night. H 'PUIIE 'I' LIFE
