THOSE who confront junior counselor Mrs. Kidd are literally behind the .eight-ball. Thus Linda Pemberton is especially relieved when her excuse for absence is accepted without question. DEDICATION Today's world is a fast-paced one. Ever changing, ever progressing, it demands that we change with it. Those who cannot adjust to the change or fit into the new plan are soon left far behind. And those who do not know where they are headed have lost the race before it's begun. Through testing, vocational guidance, and discussions with the individual students, the counseling services at Putnam City High School seek to help each pupil find his own place in society. Pre- paredness must be made for a world in which technical advance- ments and continuing automation are rapidly rendering physical labor obsolete. But more than this, the ageless question How do I relate to life? must be answered. In a world such as this, there can be no substitute for education. Just how well Putnam's counselors have made this fact known is shown by two statistics: Putnam's drop-out rate has decreased 15W in the last few years, while its percentage of graduates who enter college has increased by the same number. Putnam's counselors are not mere Hschedule-changers. Although usually swamped by the vast enrollment, they direct and channel this tide of youth toward worthwhile goals for a productive life. To these we dedicate the 1965 Treasure Chest. analyze his problem. IT'S only a matter of time until the first obiections to new schedules are raised, and visits to the coun- selors' offices begin in earnest. After a tedious wait in a lengthy line, the inner sanctum is entered and the cause for delay is discovered: the counselor himself is away for the moment.
