MR. COONFIELD'S primary interest being the growth and development of the P.C.H.S. students, he provides us with his helpful advice each and every day. All of us have learned to accept his opinion as that of an expert. COUNSELORS ALTHOUGH ADVICE for our various problems is not the only service she gives, we like to think of Mrs. Juanita Kidd as our own Abigail Van Buren. Five years of counseling here at P.C.H.S. have proved her to be genuinely interested in our lives. It is her responsibility to help Freshmen become familiar with their high- school schedules and activities. Her winning smile and her enthusiasm for school activities make her a well-liked member of the taculty. A NEW FACE in the counselors office this year is Mrs. Catherine Batson. Any Sophomore with a prob- lem will always find her willing to help. Prior to becoming a counselor she taught Freshman English here at Putnam City. 3 i

Completing his 16th year as our principal is Mr. Leo C. Mayfield. Being the principal of a high school as large as Putnam City is a great responsibility and re- quires much time and effort. However, Mr. Mayfield has a cheerful attitude and will always take time to listen to our many problems. He received his Masters degree in Education from Oklahoma University. He also attended Northeastern State Teachers College and the University of Southern California. Mr. Mayfield first came to Putnam City in 1940 as Junior High School principal. During World War Il he served in the Coast Guard and he now lives in this community with his family. Some of his many activities are the American Legion, Y.M.C.A. Board, Y.W.C.A. Board, Past President of the State Principals Association, and he has recently been named to Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Now nearing the end of his second year at Putnam City High School is Mr. B. J. Nichols, our vice principal Although he has been here only a short while he has proved to be extremely efficient. His home town is Blanchard, Oklahoma and he at tended Central State College and Oklahoma University He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree In Educa tion, and a Master's Degree in City School Admnnustra Before he became a part of the Putnam City High School Administration, he taught science at our Junior High. Prior to coming to Oklahoma City he worked in Kansas. He is married and has two sons, Stanley who is fourteen, and Steven, six. We are very fortunate to have Mr. Nichols as a part of our school system and we appreciate his concern for the welfare of the students.

SCHOOL BOARD Board Members Look to Future Every first Monday, and more frequently if problems arise, Superintendent D. D. Kirkland and the school board members meet together to solve the complex part of a school which covers forty-seven square miles, has four hundred ninety-four employees, and educated 9,415 students in 1962-63. Keeping things Mrs. ,Lee Mason, Clerk Mr. Don Greve running smoothly is no mean task for these gentle- men and the lady of the committee who give their time for our benefit.
