The scrambling of students for their seats in class . . . the groaning as a test is announced . . . the inevitable, but I don't understand . . . the math teach- er daily faces many problems. Although aided by new books, overhead projec- tors, and the latest in teaching tech- niques, teachers still must deal with laziness, forgotten homework, and the like. He or she must be patient, under- standing and be able to keep their cool to work against such odds. Granted, math is not the easiest subject to teach or learn, but the ll members of the math department try diligently to ex- plain and simplify the elusive equation or concept.
