'A 1 Q , I H ut.-. -- , The Big Day -1954 My dearest Mom and Dad, Four years ago-back in the golden September of 1950-dear parents, you left us with tear-filled eyes in the loving care of the good Sisters here at dear old P.C.A. We were but timid freshmen then and the first year found us with a variety of emotions to' contend with, fear perhaps, but also excitement and anticipation. The unknown mysteries gradually unrolled before our eyes and with every passing activity we found ourselves looking forward to four wonderful years. June came and we witnessed for the first time the joy and sorrow of a Commencement Day at dear old P.C.A.-we saw our seniors say good-bye and leave. We returned to school to find that our sophomore year passed as quickly as our first year and before we could realize it, we were back to begin our big year, our junior year. Ah, yes, that was a memorable one! Halloween Party, May Queen, junior-Senior Banquet, and, finally, the Daisy Chain when the Class of '53 entrusted their caps and gowns to us. The bright morning of September 16, 1953 found us all together in the senior home- room and there, with the thought In Unity There Is Strength, we launched into our fourth and last year together here at P.C.A. We stood wondering and hoping that we would live up to the expectations of those about us. However, after having placed all our confidence in The Star of the Sea, we set forth with new and firm convictions. One by one we saw our dreams being fulfilled until there remained but one-the greatest one, the one we had always looked and longed for-Commencement. Please forgive our wandering off, dear parents, but before we wrote this letter, we opened our book of memories and one by one we turned the pages until we reached this day. Today more than ever before, dearest Mom and Dad, we realize how very much we owe to you. For these precious memories, for the wonderful bonds of true friendship which have been established, for everything we are and hope to be-we are indebted to you. It is because of God's kindness and your love, sacrifice and unselfish interest that we, today, are able to close the doors of our beloved and cherished P.C.A. feeling better equipped to travel on 1ife's sea because of the sound Catholic training we have received. Words cannot express the love and gratitude which fills our hearts today, our graduation day. Since words are too futile, dearest Mom and Dad, to express our deep affection for you, this morning we knelt together at Holy Mass and lifted our hearts to God and to Him alone we whispered our wishes for you, Thank you, dear parents, thank you from the depth of our hearts. Your loving and grateful daughters, THE CLASS OF '54
