Max Is Back With A Loud Lesson Of Life Another sunny day and students laze away their hour-breaks across the Purdue Mall lawn. Transforming bookbags into pillows, they write letters, “cop some rays, or just gaze up into the leaves of a shady tree. Around 3:00 P.M., a man garbed in a polyester leisure suit topped with a bright red fishing hat arrives. Setting DESTRUCTION! Ears open, students lazily chuckle, “Max is back, and immediately a circle forms around an exasperated Brother Max. Some gather for a “good laugh, He's A Great Source Of Entertainment. Is This Guy For Real? down his briefcase and raising a clenched fist, he screams, You are on the wrong road leading straight to others for a hot debate, and some just to listen. Whatever the motives, a sunny day finds students taking another look toward that familiar spot on the lawn for Brother Max. I Kydtn Brother Mjx 19

Homecoming Is . . . Winter, Spring, Summer, Homecoming It was in the air. We zipped up our windbreakers over old sweatshirts, crunched through leaf-filled streets, and craved hot cider, hayrides, and football. Like all seasons of the year. Homecoming arrived, displaying its own unique colors. On October 22nd, students armed with umbrellas flocked to Ross-Ade Stadium to officially kick-off the Homecoming season. A gripping half-time score of 21-21, an introduction of alumni, a marching band, and the crowning of a 1983 Homecoming Queen, Cheryl Wulf, made for a picture-perfect tradition. Despite our loss to the mighty Illini, fans in black and gold retreated from the stadium feeling proud of the Boilers' excellent performance. The sun went down, leaves drifted from the trees, and family cars drove slowly away from the campus. Like all seasons of the year.
