Af winners are ... U-Sing 1980, the first of this decade, was the 50th Anniversary of the event. Spirit, cooperation, and enthusiasm, together with fun and song, made for a great night of magic Close to 2,000 students participated and three times as many people were in attendance to witness Farm House and Chi Omega sing their way to 1st Place in the combined division The men's division crown was captured by Fairway Co-op and Windsor Hall captured the women's. The real winners of U-Sing in an event where there are no losers, were the parents It must be reassuring to see that besides the partying there is at least an event that inspires hard work and friendly competition U-Sing 1980. as all U-Sings, was both awesome and impressive, proving to all Boilermakers that we are not a school separated by majors, but rather a school inspired by a good challenge. t-S»g 19

It's an event of smoke, and noise, and fire, as engines roar, and pound, pushing forth a snorting, four-wheeled demon, in a contest of strength and endurance, the Boilermaker Tractor Pull. Twenty-nine thousand dollars in prizes, fun, and the funding of Purdue Scholarships were only part of the excitement of the day. Beautiful girls, Purdue Tractor Pull girls, helped a number of fratemitv men test their strength as they pulled sfeds weighted with the beauties. The toy tractor race was hilarious as Purdue women tried their spirit in friendly competition. The men and their machines were the main attraction; however, the pressure, tension, and draining of energy was evident in the faces of the competitors as they pushed their modern chariots to the limits of endurance. There were winners and losers in this years' Tractor Pull but in the end there was only comradery and smiles. PULLING FOR SCHOLARS
