In an effort to :hallenge students to think lbout their relationships with Iesus Christ, Campus Crusades sponsored a three day lecture series by the international uni- versity speaker Josh McDowell. Topics included the Resurrec- :ion Hoaxf, the Future Tel- fersf, and g'Maximum Sexf, Young life, on the other hand, ,s an outreach to the high school students of Lafayette and West Lafayette. Devoted students, led by john Dewitt, spend their Wednesday nights with an aver- ige of sixty high school stu- ilents. Led in singing and fun, :hese young people are intro- :luced on a basic level to the person of Jesus Christ and his role in life today. It is quite obvious that al- :hough religious faith is not a popular topic of conversation, it plays a large role in the lives of many students. Whether beliefs are kept as a personal matter or are shared in trying to help mankind, it is prevalent. The re- ligious needs of any person can be met in one way or another here at Purdue. 1 'F i U .s , 1: 4',, . f. , ,Q , .- X s .4 ' 'C .. A :Z 4 IBF b.W. Stewart 1 Rlgi

s many organizations on campus, the University Church works in conjunction with the Lafayette Community. Through fund raising projects such as the 'gHoWard Hanger joyful jazz Fantasyn the disin- herited and underprivileged in the Lafayette area are aided. Similarly, the students of St. Thomis gathered this spring to walk for the hungry in their 10th Annual Hunger Hike. The money raised was distributed among five international pro- jects, and three local pro- jects. Students not only ex- pressed their concern for the problems of the World, but they exhibited their beliefs through their actions. There are also those students who wish to become involved beyond their participation in their place of worship. Active interdenominational groups on campus include Campus Crusade for Christ, Young Life, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Although their ac- tivities differ, the organizations share the common goal of spreading the idea that fulfill- ment can be found through a knowledge of jesus Christ. The Campus Crusade for Christ is based the theory of win, build, and send. Through weekly meetings students find what jesus Christ offers in life, ZH! In the world of fast food restaurants, department stores, supermarkets and compact economy cars, the old ways of Indiana life have become almost obsolete. Yet, tucked along the country side and in small towns placidly standing along hack roads, a taste of old Indiana is waiting to he enjoyed. The old general store of the late 1800's reminds us of the times when farmers and their families made a days outing out of going into town.
