To do so, the Boilers had to stave otitis final Tennessee drive which saw the Vols move deep into Purdue territory. The 'ilunk Defense came through though, stopping the Volunteers after an out-of-hounds completion at the two yard line an tl an incomplete fourth down pass. The action in the Houston As- trodoine was not the only attraction for most of the fans. The first day's ac- tivities included registration seiyices, a pool party, and a trip to the worlds largest night cluh - Gilleyls - a liar featuring live country music and seat- ing for 41100. A mix-up in hus schedul- ing left many standing in the rain and mud, but eventually almost everyone made it to the har to dance the Texas two-stepf, ride the hronco-huster, and show off new Stetsons and hoots. Saturday brought a relaxing day of shopping at the Galleria Plaza -- a plush tri-level mall featuring enter- tainment and shops. Monday, New Year's Eve, started with a pep rally and more sightseeing including tours, golf, horseback riding, and dining on Mexican food, Mau'- garitas, and Texas Tuinhleweeds, After the exhilarating victory was finally Purdues, the New Yeahs Eve party hegan hack at Astro-Village. Chain- pagne, noisemakers, hats, dancing, and the poolside activities were all centers ofattention as the Boilers welcomed in 1980 and toasted farewell to the 7O's. The 21st annual Bluehonnet Bowl came to a close on Tuesday as most fans took in a relaxed morning of re- cuperation and then later watched the Rose Bowl and enjoyed a few final moments of sunshine at poolside he- fore the trip home. by John C.
