A year of progress, 1956-57 brought many changes to education. Most apparent was the building program, begun in 1950 enrollment of future years. The ten-year program called for $40,000,000 to cover the cost of structures like the Purdue Music Annex, “H” Residence Halls, Life Science Building, Another change was experimentation with instructional devices in the classroom. Educational television proved one of the best ways to combat the teaching shortage: 1200 students were taught by this method. In all expansion, the University maintained its respected standards—proving that “in its chosen field, Purdue must lead, not follow.”
