V' ll This Year Will Be Different ls an Annual Promise all al. The bookstore rush with its endless lines is the last obstacle to over- come before settling down to the semester's routine. There are few of us who return after the summer vacation without rosy thoughts of Purdue and careful plans for avoiding the mistalaes of the past year. The first disillusion- ment is the hectic atmosphere of registration which reminds us of our perennial gripes. Orientation for freshmen means exhausting hours of tests, stacks of important papers, and the first brush with the clip-cornered IBM cards. Solemn information from all direc- tions often leaves the unsuspecting freshman more confused than ever. Each fall following Freshman orientation, a few hopeful eds eagerly await the Registrafs announcement ofthe ratio of the new class It is seldom what could be called encouraging, but some persist in dreaming that the situation will be as pictured above. 1
