Potter Purdue's schools of engineering have grown to world wide impor- tance. After acquiring a lrroad technical education at Mas- sachusetts Institute of Technology. he entered the engineer- ing profession where he was recognized as one of the coun- try's foremost engineers. During these years he held many positions of responsibility as consulting engineer for the United States government. utility companies, and engineer- ing institutions. Dean Potter is not only an expert in the engineering line. he is an executive. an educator, and an acl- riser. His interest in young engineers and his ability to handle thein caused him to enter educational lields rather than reinain in the engineering profession. In 1920 he canie to l'urdue as head of the engineering schools. Besides his technical interests, Dean Potter is enthusiastically interested in music, art, and literature. He is a man with whom the engineering schools and Purdue University can proudly hoast a close association.
