Wise in their counsel- sympathetically and vitally interested in their field of work -they perform their tasks conscien- tiously-student problems. financial help, employment. N.Y.A. jobs. ex- cuses and advice-personal or imper- sonal. They are counsellors of campus activities-mainstays of student life. Discipline is their secondary issue. Both are outdoor enthusiasts-golf participants. Dean Stratton finds men- tal recreation in poetic literature fishing and bird hunting beckon Dean Fisher-crossword puzzles intrigue him. On the campus the ability and initiative shown by the Dean of Wfom- en to further coeducation-the Dean of Men's long standing reputation for valuable service rendered-these are factors indispensable to the promotion of student welfare.
