PCAC In 1967, in the spring, 1 6 men got together and decided to form a club. This club was not to be an ordinary club. It was to be a club dedicated to the betterment of athletics at Purdue Cal and to the betterment of the com- munity of this area. The club had a rocky start, but thanks to the dedicated efforts of the 16 men and their faculty sponsors, the club prospered. Now, as the club enters its second year, the out- look is bright. Many activities are in the planning stage and the community and the school are solidly behind them. The club recently initiated seven new members, and these men show promising signs of carrying on the aims of the Kneeling: Ron Rodda, Larry Mills, Mike Ryba. Motivated by comments such as these a small group of Purdue Calumet Students joined together and brought a a , new club into being. In general, its a i t | é i b purpose—to ignite that hotbed. Among the activities carried on by the club this year in meeting these goals were various open lectures on the different aspects of society and government and a very successful open forum on civil rights. The principal activity of the club, though, was its sponsorship of ‘Choice 58''— the national collegiate primary for the election of the President of the United States. Serving in officer capac- ity for the club are Rich Bouton—Presi- dent, Mike Laramie—Vice President and Margaret Dick—Secretary. Building on s successful first, the Political Affairs Club looks forward to an involved, un- apathetic future. 35

Student Chapter of Professional Engineers be- gan the year with a hayride for the student body. During the Thanksgiving holidays, members or- d ganized and sponsored a dance at the Armory. ' Meetings featured guest speakers from the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer- ing, and Chemical Engineering. Field trips to Argonne National Laboratories, American Oil, O ‘ Pullman Standard, Inland Steel, 1.B.M., and others were organized. A Co-op Banquet and Engineering Banquets were held. Beginning the year under student dir- ection, Purdue Music Organization song- sters gathered on Monday evenings dur- ing the first semester to have a good time singing together. Their first per- formance was set at the Honors Day Assem bly where they performed the é Purdue Hymn under the direction of Tim Parlor. Beginning rehearsals on the Christmas work Sing We Know of Christmas , voices blended in holiday harmony, and performances for the stu- dents and the public were given, direct- ed by Miss Cynthia Przondo. Beginning second semester rehearsals were held twice a week during school hours, and with the return of Professor Simpson, music theory was combined with singing for learning and fun. A major step was taken when choir robes were ordered for the group in early spring. The final Ld performance of the Calumet PMO for this year was at Commencement, where they added their inspirational message to the program.
