XX X Pfes' M .X I I F C. xx 9' S .F' ' s - 'Z x, ' ' 4 ,Q , - x A f A CLASS PROPHECY On January I8 V964 l received a telephone call from Don Elms superintendent of schools an Fur cell requesting that l help the stJdent committee with plans for the second Alumni Celebration Since Ken and l live near Purcell and all of our children are in school Don felt free to coll on me lt was a tedious task but a very interesting one to get the names and addresses of all the grad duates The members ofthe l954 class my own class were very helpful in sending addresses of those they knew about Some of the information received is listed in the following paragraphs Our first response came from Betty Lewis who is Women s athletic director at Madison Square bar den in New York City She sent several addresses Leta Duren Baucom with Les and their three child ren are living in Venezuela where he is in charge of the Standolln Oli Company holdings Homer Mc Bay is professor of Zoology in New York City University His lovely wife the former Dorothy Wilkie is a John Powers Model Two other of the l954 graduates, Dr Bill Hall and Dr Darrell Wilson have the largest and one of the most renown Heart Clinics in the World Their very able nurse assistant is another of our classmates Regina Veitenheimer Our next surprise came from Patsy Strickland, who is a very famous Cosmetician in Los Angeles Some of you probably did not know that the popular Patti Wayne Cosmetics are made in the laboratory of her salon Wayne Walker is the chemist in charge of all experimenting l d always wondered about that name- now l know From the tone of the letter, it seems that a romance is brewing between those two Dr Don Beck pastor of the Mount Pleasant Church of Christ In Denver wrote to us saying that rado The Diamond Horse Shoe He visits them frequently because they are generous contributors to his church and also because he is interested in the cashier in their establishment our own Sallie Ward John White as most of you know is governor of Florida When he sent his reservation he told us that Joe Webster and Delbert Pope were operating a Shrimp Boat off the coast of Florida and had sent hirr fresh shrimp a number of times Bob Huddleston and Loren Chenoweth are selling leases and promoting oil operations in Arizona They travel over the entire state, and recently ran into Sharon Cyl ert at Flagstaff She and Martha Law son are owners and operators of a dude ranch El Rancho Senorlta Bonita Bill Smith is still playing professional football with the Detroit Lions He sent LeRoy s address He is a professional wrestler in Calcutta lndia under the name Muscles Lee His manager trainer is Larry Tubbs Emma Brumfield dia get married that summer after our graduation, and went toWzchita to live but she is one of the outstanding women aviators of our time Maybe some of you were like me didn tre cogmze her as Lou Flippin Another surprise came when Ava Jo Cox wrote us from San Francisco saying that she and her part ner Margaret Owens would be here for the school of Ballaet known as the MarJo Because we, who live in Purcell are so accustomed to hearing their praises sung l almost forgot to mention our own University of Dklahoma football coach Dorsey Self and his assistant Mike Gallamore They have been very successful the past four years We hope to see you at our reunion on May l2+h Best wishes to all of you Sincerely, Wilma Tipplt ' 1 I i , U i .
