Volrli-, K The Board of Education of the Punxsutawney Public Schools consists of seven members, who are elected for a six year term and serve without remuneration. It is a fair-minded group of men, who are interested solely in the welfare of boys and girls and in the betterment of the schools. The Board of Education is the policy-malv ing body of the schools and raises and expends the funds for the schools. One of the recent outstanding projects of the Board was the erection of the Mary A. Wilstwn elementary school. The oH:icers are: George P. Grube, presidentg james M. Coble, vice presidentg H. T. -lack, secretaryg and Donald Kurtz, treasurer. The other members are: Frank Harl, John Harvey, Sr., and Arthur Kromer. The Board of Education and the superintendent work together to operate efficiently the schools of Punxsu- TEIWDCY. james T. Downie is the superintendent of the Punxsutawney schools. He is an administrative officer and operates under the direction of the school board. He is the supervisor for the schools as a whole. Nelson H. Boyd is principal of the Punxsutawney Senior High School. Mr. Boyd is in charge at all the functions of the high school and performs the various duties of principal. Marvin B. Clark is the assistant principal of the senior high school. Mr. Clark also acts as principal of the junior high school.
