Hazel, our valedictorian, known to all as the brightest, busiest, cleverest girl in P. H. S. She is a source of overwhelming awe to ignorant lfreshmen, of inspiration to aspiring Sophs, of information to lackadaisical juniors, and of just pride to the Seniors. Pray, where, oh, where can you Find anyone to surpass her in scholastic ability? In such a paragon, the faults. or rather weak points, must stand out more sharp- ly, and sorry we are to say that Hazel has one great fault, namely, a passionate fondness for Freshmen. Hazel expects to teach next year and oh, how we envy her prospec- tive pupils! VIOLET BURCH TriI-:yn English Course Ir. Red Cross Luncheon Fommittee, '18 Glee Club, '16 HT111111 11111151 11 i'01c1' 1.111056 50111111 was like 1111' sen P1111 as 1111' 11111e1'11 111111-z'c'ns, majestic, free. They say llacaulay had a wonderful memory but we believe that his would not have much showing if it were compared with Yiolet's. VVe are not exaggerating when we say that she can memorize a whole article in the Literary Digest. But stop! The possession of a wonderful memory is not her only characteristic for she also possesses a disposition such as no other person has. She takes things as they come and never murmurs when cares and burdens oppress. She is diligent, persevering, and fond of burning the midnight oil. XYith such a recommendation we send Yiolet out into the world and allow her to choose a career for herself SADIE DIXON BURRELL Dick C'o1nmercial Vourse Mirfor Reporter, 'IS .Xssociate Iiditor of Mirror, 'IU N111111'11g 111111 .Y11I' 11111'5 111' .s'1'1'111.v 13111 s11111c1es 11,1 x111111'1111'11g gl'l'Cll'I'l' 1111111 111'1'.x'1'lf. The class of '19 has an Irish Coleen and this is she. You know what they say about an Irish smile and blarney-just irresistible. Sadie has both, together with brown eyes and almost black hair. My! but she can talk fast. XYe wouldn't try to count the words per minute for there's nothing slow about Sadie. Then there's just one thing we can't help wondering about. It is the wherefore and the whyfore of those officially stamped. tan envelopes of which we sometimes catch a glimpse in Sadie's books. Sadie is going to be a stenographer. and fortunate will be the office that counts her as one of its employees.

T H E M I R R O R ' MARGARET ABELMAN lXIarg Scientific Course Glee Club, '16, ,l7, '18, i1O. Associate lid. of Mirror-'l0. Red Cross Luncheon Comm. '18 .-1 .s-eeuzing child in everything, Safe tl10'Z'f11l brow ann' ripenzfzg CILfl1'H1S.,, A girl who likes to Hatter, likes to criticize, likes to pun and likes to work is Margaret. In regard to her tendency to iiatter, we would say that she is by no means addicted to sycophancy, otherwise servile flattery. CXYe learned that word in Senior Englishj Now don't forget to remem- ber that criticism nowaa-days includes both favorable and unfavorable opinions on any subject. Blargaret is as capable of picking out the good points in a recitation or composition as she is of finding the weak places. If, when Marg is around, you hear a low voice whispering something give strict attention for Blargaret is quite likely to tell you something really funny and clever. Margaret expects to go to 1XIargaret Blorrison College and take either Pharmacy or Domestic Science. RAYMOND W. ALLEN Damie', English Course Treasurer of Senior Class, '19 Treasurer of A. A., '19 Basket Ball Sub The way fo lzave a friend is To be one. Here is lXIr. Allen, our man of affairs. Can't you tell by the set of his jaw that Damie has an adamantine will? And by the smile in his eyes that he is of a jolly, fun-loving disposition? But you must know Damie'l personally to find that he is true to his word and to his friends. Mathematics are Damie's delight. He is at his best when solving some hard problem in geometry or arithmetic, we hope that he may solve the great problems of Life as easily and as well as he solves these. He is at present undecided as to what he will do, but never fear success stands ready, waiting for Damie.l' 7 JAMES B. ALLISON Hjilllii Scientific Course President Senior VV. S. S. Society, '19 High School Play, '18 Athletic Editor hlirror, '18 The mind is the strzrzdard of the man. The world calls him bashful, but we, the Seniors, know that he is not at all bashful, but only dignified and reserved. VVe do not like to predict anything but a famous career for i'Ji1n,' but we feel that he would make an excellent butler. VVe arrived at this conclusion from the part he acted in the H. S. Play. Perhaps he can do this as an avocation. Ullllllw is very undecided as to what he will do after he leaves school, and no wonder, for he can do so many things that it is hard for him to choose. VVe are confident, however, that he will make the best choice in the end, and we feel that, when the world knows Jim as we know him another name will be added to the list of those who are immortal in the hearts of men.

T H E M I R R O R HELEN CAMPBELL Heno,' Q English Course Red Cross Luncheon Committee, '18 I meet thy jzensive, moonlight face. Helen of Troy, herself, who was stolen on account of her beauty, could not possibly surpass our Helen, who has also been captured but not by a Trojan warrior, oh no! just by a Senior. Helen is a devout follower of 'fDame Pleasure. No lessons could ever be so long or no clouds of study so black, as to keep her from having a good time. Her fun-loving nature has made her a valuable asset to our class when we are down-hearted and discouraged. Helen expects to take up Domestic Science and we know it will-suit her and will someday come in handy. lVhen Helen leaves P. H. S., a bit of sunshine will go out which can never be replaced. ARTHUR F. COREY Art', English Course High School Play, '19 Class Prophecy 1NIember A. A. '19 With hues of genius upon his cheek, In jinest tones the boy could speak. Yes, Arthur is a fine speaker. He showed his ability along this line in the Four 1NIinute Speaking Contest. Arthur's mind is scientifically inclined, as his marks in Physics and Chemistry plainly show. Although Arthur has not been with us a year, he has made us all like him because of his good-natured humor, cleverness and true manli- ness. The saying goes that Good goods are done up in small pack- ages , but Arthur is the exception that proves the rule. Arthur expects to go to Cornell University next year and take up the chemistry course. Just observe his progress, for some day he will make himself famous by a wonderful discovery in the realms of science. IDA ELIZABETH COUSER K4Curly73 English Course Bo c't'c1'ytlzz'1zg wlziclz uoiu thou art, Bc nothing which thou oft not. . v Joyful, care-free Ida! Those who know her could not forget her, nor could they do without her. Here is a girl that is always ready to lend a helping hand. You never hear her complain or grumble, for she takes life as it comes. Here too, you find an energetic young person, who never wastes a minute Ida likes fun and is always ready for a good time. She expects to take up stenographical work after graduating and we know that success will come to such a lovable and energetic girl.
