Therefore, as a door behind closes on the old and a door ahead opens on the new, we pause to declare a faith and pride in those ideals which have helped guide us to this time of fulfillment. It is then, with a feeling of accomplishment and satis- faction, that we, the ORIOLE Staff, present to you the Seal of Pulaski High School through our yearbook theme for 1965 — THE REVELATION. As the words sportsmanship, friendship, citizenship, leadership, and most importantly scholarship are implied in the symbol- ism of the shield, we see these actual qualities incul- cated in the life of the student body. Truly our days within these classrooms and halls are numbered. May we have the wisdom to accept these symbols as life goals. May we ever play the game of life honestly. Socially may we never become too busy to cultivate a worthwhile friendship. Spiritually, may we have the courage to lead, rather than follow the crowd. Physically , may we commend our school sports and support them without reserve. Academically, may we progress under the guidance of our fine teachers. Mentally, may we never lose the desire to study and learn. As we look at the events of the past year, as set forth in our book, we will find the Seal revealed to us in many forms. It is our hope, that in years to come, these pages will serve as reminders — not only of happy ex- periences, but also of ideals yet to be achieved. — Frank Trotter Bedtcatton As we strive to prepare ourselves mentally, as well as physical- ly, to become successful citizens of the world, we must be guided by those who have attained more than knowledge — that being experience. The students of P. H. S. feel richly blessed to have such a fine faculty and administrative staff, which are such a great asset to any student’s schooling. This year we feel compelled to recognize one who has been outstanding in service and devotion to the teaching profession. Many times over, our obligations to her have been renewed. In directing one of the most beauftiul ceremonies of our school year and in guiding one of our most outstanding organizations, this teacher has endured many hours of hard work, because she felt that her students were depending on her to help and guide them. Her excitement and enthusiasm have been challenging examples to her pupils, and their devotion to her has brought them many victories. After graduating from Radford College, she established a teaching career at Pulaski High School, where her services have been highlights in the years of P. H. S. Of her past achievements we have reminisced admiringly, of her future success we anticipate hopefully, and now most loving- ly, we dedicate the 1965 Oriole to MRS. KATHERINE G. KEG- LEY. rs. Our memories are precious to each of us as we recall the years that have passed so swiftly. We were the largest eighth grade class to enter Pulaski High School. Through the years we have lost many of our members; how- ever, we still remain a large class. As eighth graders, we were bewildered when we first entered the doors of Pulaski High School to our new way of life. We had to adapt to many changes and situations. Proud were we, when we became the Freshman class of Pulaski High School. Gradually, we became accustomed to our high school career. As Sophomores, we began to know more people and to participate in more activities; as Sophomores, we felt a bigger part of our school. During our Sophomore year, we managed to adopt a class slogan, which will remain in the hearts of each of us as we launch out to seek our separ- ate fortunes in life: WE’RE HEP WE’RE ALIVE WE’RE THE CLASS OF ’65!! When we became Juniors, we received our long awaited class rings. Diligently we worked selling stationery in order to give the Senior Class of 1964 one of the loveliest proms in the history of Pulaski High School. The anxiety we felt as we marched into our first assembly can not be described in words. We felt a great disappointment when we were told we were unable to have a Senior trip; as a substitute for our trip, we were given a “Class Day.” We were proud of Valerie Atkinson when she captured the title of “Queen” during the Miss P.H.S. Contest. The Senior Class and a Senior homeroom were first in the school’s Can Drive to aid the needy. During our homecoming parade, we received sec- ond place for our float. Now, soon — too soon — our final year draws to a close. Graduation awaits the Class of ’65. We wish to thank the entire faculty of Pulaski High School, for their patience and guidance. Especially we wish to thank our Senior sponsors: Mrs. Margaret Bushong, Miss Suzanne David, Mrs. Edna Loftus, Miss Mayme McCoy, Mrs. Joyce Robinson, Mrs. A. L. Mode, Mr. Wil- liam Puckett, Miss Dean Repass, and Mrs. Bessie Totten. We leave Pulaski High School with fond memories. Her walls have echoed with our joys and our sorrows for five years. Our quest for maturi- ty and knowledge has begun to be fulfilled, and now, we, as Seniors, are ready to seek our treasures. 27 Robert Raymond Akers Donnie An old-time runabout; A real pal. As another school year began, we, as freshmen, entered the doors of Pulaski High dedicated to making this year one of our best — in work and pleasure. One of our pleasures came during the Homecoming activities when our class float placed first in the competition . This honor was truly one of the highlights of our freshman year. On our journey towards seeking new goals we were led so ably by Dennis Rooker, class President; Brenda King, Vice-President ; Diana Love, Secretary ; and Cecil Al- bano, Treasurer. We want to sincerely thank our able class sponsors: Miss Elizabeth Blair, Mrs. Ruth E. Hotz, Mrs. Linda A. Joyce, Mrs. Mary Ann Lemons, Mrs. Juanita C. Rob- ertson, Mrs. Wanda H. Totten, Mrs. Mildred R. Whitt, and Mrs. Shirley M. Wing- field, for their assistance, guidance, and encouragement. As we leave behind another year of sadness and joy, laughter and tears, work and pleasure, dedication and fulfillment, we realize that even more will be revealed in the years to come. But, we can certainly hope that the following years contain con- tinual joy and success and strive to make it thus. 83 W Karen Akers Roger Akers Cecil Albano Dorothy Alley Jane Amburn Alex Ammar Joyce Anderson Gerald Aust David Babb Sherry Back Connie Bailey Sandra Bandy Charles Barbettini Danny Bates Alonzo Becks Joyce Bell Carol Blevins Danny Boggs Esther Bond Harry Boone Sue Bopp Jerry Bowyer Lois Bratton Lewis Breedlove Blair Brockmeyer Betty Brookfield Wanda Brookman Wayne Brookman Steve Buchanan Asa Burchett Marietta Burchett Johnny Burke Brenda Burton Barbara Butts Susan Cabaniss Connie Campbell Jane Carson Ernestine Carter Connie Childress Jerry Childress Jerry Chinault Jimmy Clark Kelsy Cochran Billy Coe Carol Coker Judy Coltrane Johnny Columbus Tom Combith David Compton Barbara Conner David Conner James Covey Basil Cox Theresa Cox Thurman Cox Bobby Craig Linda Craig Ronnie Craig Bill Crawford Bobbie Crockett Patricia Crouse Rita Crouse Ruth Crub (Elaes Betty Crumbley Bobby Cruff Brenda Dalton Larry Dalton Kenneth Dalton Gaile Davidson Roger Davidson Sandra Davidson Brenda Davis 9 Linda Doyle David Draper Pat Duncan John Dye Dallas Edwards Yvonne Endicott Kenny Farmer Linda Folden Brenda Foley Linda Foley Alan Fowler Anita Fowler Lillie Fowler George Freeman Debbie French Joan French Charlotte Frost Fredrick Fuller Clim Gallimore Mike Gallimore Jesse Gates Karen Gilmore Ronnie Glenn Betty Ann Goad Sue Retta Goad James Graham Wayne Gravely Janet Gregojy Jimmy Gregory Becky Hall John Hall Michael Hall Thelma Hall Patsy Hamilton Jerry Hanks Diane Harris Joanie Harris Karen Harris Ronald Hayter Lydia Hedge Haney Hodges Margaret Holland Skip Holland R. Between getting lost, getting locked in janitors’ closets, and being pushed around by upperclassmen, we managed to enter a float in the Homecoming Parade and to have two entries, Sunni Edens and Betsy Mabry, in the Miss P.H.S. Contest; one of our girls, Sunni Edens, was in the top five finalists. So here we are beginning the most wonderful and exciting days of our life.
