I Kennetd G. 3ulp, Principal Duke University, B.A. University of Virginia, M.S. This yearbook should serve in general, three purposes. First, it should be a storehouse of pleasant memories for the students. Ten or fifteen years from now you will turn through these pages and each picture will start a chain reaction of memories which will enable you to relive part of your past. Second, it should portray to the general public a picture story of what goes on in our school. Most yearbooks give little attention to the academic area of school life. Yet, in truth, the academic occupies the majority of the students’ time. We hope to have made some progress in that direction. Finally, it should provide the students with a project on which they can bring to bear their individual talents and have the opportunity to create something that is distinctive and worthwhile. I think all three purposes have been achieved through the dedicated efforts of Miss Palmer, Mrs. Blankenship and the yearbook staff of 1960. Congratulations on a job well done. 16
