We are grateful to her for the contributions she has made to our school. ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION Mr. James Fowler, Mr. William Garland and Mrs. George Himmelman. We seldom realize the grave responsibilities and problems that confront our administrative staff. For ten years our principal, Mr. Wm. R. Garland has successfully met the challenges of our school and community by constantly expanding the educational opportunities by adequately Informing the public, and faithfully executing the author- ity vested in him by the school board. This year we have been fortunate in having a most understanding assistant prin- cipal, Mr. James Fowler. He has been ready and willing to help us with our problems at all times. As June 4, 1956, approaches, we realize that it has been for eleven years of our iives that we have studied, played, and endeavored to reach our goal — gradua- tion. Many events have crowned our last year at P.H.S. For the first time, the class was invited by the University of Virginia to attend the football game between George Washington and the University of Virginia. The trip was enjoyed by many of the Seniors. We will cherish the memories of many activities: winning the annual high school stunt day, athletics, Youth Day in February, the wonderful trip to Washington in March, Senior Play in April, and May Day. Before any of these activities could become dim in our memory, we were attend- ing the Senior banquet, Prom, and taking part in that last Senior week-end. Our constant hope and wish will be that Pulaski High School has been enriched at least a little by some of our contributions, but above all, may the students who follow after us always uphold our love and devotion for our school. We are greatly indebted to our sponsor, Miss Mayme K. McCoy. She has been both patient and understanding with all our problems. We are also grateful to Mrs. Jordon, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Totten, Mrs. Sullins, Miss Lockhart and Mr. Edward Rockwell. fourteen ; a r Iht u If SENIOR CLASS ELDON GLEN AKERS Eldon A radiant face, the shyness of a deer. We, the Juniors, were capable of doing things even though we were a small class. The 1956 Junior Class was the smallest Pulaski High School has ever had due to the fact that the eighth grade was admitted at the beginning of their freshman year. Our big events this year v ere receiving our class rings, the Junior-Senior Prom, and participating in the school play. We appreciate very much the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Robin Hunt. Second row: Cecil Ward, Ralph Burchett, Tracy Whitaker, Jack Tolley. Third row: Jackie Hughes, Chester Rogers. Pulaski ' s cagers had a pretty rugged start this year. However, the team im- proved rapidly as the season wore on and finished with a bang. A fine team spirit was led by captain Dean Newman, who helped Coach Hoback weld the Orioles into a hard-running outfit. FOOTBALL The season of 1955 was the best for the Orioles in some years. Although in- experienced and small, they came through with a 4-4-2 record. Under the combined leadership of Mr. Rockwell and Mr. White the team won considerably more games than pre-season ratings gave them a chance for. Co-captains Fred Hall and Bill Waller led the Orioles with an unfailing spirit, and confidence in the ability of the boys. Although they did not win all their games, the team members agree that this season has brought a greater understanding and a deeper appreciation of the power of teamwork. eighty-eight .). V.
