The staff hopes that as you look through the pages of this book you will be reminded of many happy events of your school year. May this book also serve as a reminder of the many opportunities open to all who enroll here. eaLcaiLOu As we enjoy the wonderful facilities of our new school we would like to pay tribute to a group of men whose devoted service is greatly responsible for it. We owe much to these public servants, our school board members, Mr. Lawrence Ganaway, Mr. Andy Gott, Mr. Byron Meredith, Mr. Oscar Jordan, and Mr. Graham Fizer. Our 1955 Oriole is dedicated to the chairman of this group, Mr. Graham Fizer. Mr. Fizer has served as a member of the school board since 1946 and has been chairman since 1949. His strong belief in the task to be done and willingness to give of his time and energies over a long period of time furnished the leadership which was needed to give Pulaski County the kind of schools which were needed. In recognition of the contribution Mr. Fizer has made to education, he was chosen as School Board Member of Virginia for 1955. We are proud of our school and are grateful to those who helped to make it a reality. We have been very fortunate to have the use of fhe many modern facilities in this wonderful building. Looking back on our high school years, we remember the excitement of being freshmen at last, our new experiences, friendships, and finally the thrill of becoming a senior and the leading class of the school. Yes, our cherished memories, by far, blot out the small difficulties and dis- appointments we have had during the past four years. The activities which have made this year the most outstanding include: stunt day of which we captured first place, senior play, banquet and prom, and being the second class of P. H. S. to make the trip to Washington. For many of us, not until the diploma has been placed in our hand, will we realize that we shall not return to the classrooms of P. H. S. But we hope that our loving spirit may always be remembered and echo through the corridors while the students behind us continue to bring recognition and honor to our school. Our achievements and success of this unforgettable year are due to the leadership and the helping hand of Miss Mayme McCoy, our class sponsor, who is considered the hub of the Senior Class of 551 Also are we indebted to Mrs. Jordan, Mrs. Totten, Miss Simpson, Mr. Voulangas, and Mr. Vic Kreiter.
